Lions Begins Their NPL Season With a Massive Victory Over The Rhinos

Lumbini Lions wins its first match of Nepal Premier League 2025 against Chitwan Rhinos by 6 wickets.

Nepal Premier League’s 5th match against the Lions and the Rhinos was a low scoring thriller where Lions had the upper hand throughout the match.

Winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, the Lions showed their skills in the second ball itself, as Ruben Trumplemann took the wicket of worlds’ one of the best T20 batters Dawid Malan.

The Rhinos were stopped at 142 for 7, with Trumplemann’s 3 wickets by giving just 23 runs in 4 overs, helped by Gulbadin Naib and Abhishesh Gautam’s 2-2 wickets each.

In the second inning, the opener Sundeep Jora gave a good start in the powerplay with 28 runs off 10 balls. After his dismissal Captain Rohit Paudel and Gulbadin Naib held the command by making 39 off 44 balls and 44 off 24 balls respectively, helping the team to win their first match of Nepal Premier League 2025 by 7 wickets with 9 balls still remaining.

Lions second match of the tournament will be played against Karnai Yaks on Saturday (22nd November).
