Lumbini Lions won its 2nd match in the Nepal Premier League 2025 against Pokhara Avengers by 3 wickets.
After three consecutive losses in the tournament Lions roared back louder in the must win match by giving the fans one of the best thrillers.
Winning
the toss and choosing to bowl first, Lions stopped the Avengers at just 150 in
20 overs. The score of 150 was put by just two star batters from the Avengers;
Adam Rossington who scored 81 off 63 balls and James Neesham remained not out
at 51 off 32 balls, meanwhile the others couldn’t even reach the double
numbers.
Our star players Sher Malla and Tilak Bhandari took 2-2 wickets each by giving just 25 and 23 runs in 4 overs respectively, helped by Gulabdin with 1 wicket and giving just 20 runs.
While, chasing the score of 151 runs, Lions lost the early wickets of both the openers, Sumit Maharjan and D’Arcy Short but the Captain Rohit Paudel and Niroshan Dickwella remained on the field and led the team from front by making 40 off 36 balls and 37 off 22 balls respectively. Sundeep Jora’s 25 off 22 balls and Gulbadin Naib’s 17 off 11 balls also helped the team and the score was successfully chased in the 20th over giving the fans a classic thriller to watch.
