Lumbini Lions became the champions of Nepal Premier League season 2 after beating Sudurpaschim Royals by 6 wickets.
The final match of Nepal Premier League 2025 was played between Sudurpaschim Royals and Lumbini Lions on Saturday at the TU International Cricket Stadium.
Sudurpaschim won the toss and chose to bat first where the Lions stopped them at just 85 runs in the 20th over. As usual the Lions showed their skills in the powerplay itself, where Ruben Trumplemann and Sher Malla took 3 important wickets together. The real magic happened in the 11th over where the captain Rohit Paudel took a hattrick of wickets by giving just 12 runs in his bowling spell. Trumplemann and Sher also took 3-3 wickets each by giving just 3 runs in 2.1 overs and 18 in 4 overs respectively, helped by Tilak Bhandari with 1 wicket.
While chasing the score of 86 runs, the opener, Dinesh Adhikari started the inning with a massive six and continued it throughout the over with 4 sixes. He scored an impactful 42 runs off 13 balls with 5 sixes and a four. He was helped by D’Arcy Short with 14 runs, Niroshan Dickwella with 11 and Rohit Paudel with 16 runs. But the winning run was taken by Dilip Nath at the end of 9 over and Lumbini Lions became the champions of Nepal Premier League 2025.
The Player of the Match award was given to Ruben Trumplemann for his 3 wickets with the economy of just 1.40.
