The 6th match of the Lumbini Lions in NPL 2025 was a great win for the Lions by 5 wickets against the Biratnagar Kings.
After winning the toss, the Captain Rohit Paudel chose to bowl first, where the Kings were stopped at just 144 in 20 overs. Our star bowler JJ Smit took three wickets in the inning followed by Sher Malla and Ruben Trumplemann’s 1-1 wickets each and Abhishesh Gautam taking the most important wicket of Faf du Plessis in the 3rd over itself.
In the 2nd inning where Lions needed to chase 145, the team lost their 2 wickets of Sumit Maharjan and Rohit Paudel in the 5th over but D’Arcy Short stood on the field and became the teams’ first half centurion of this NPL season. He made 57 off 44 balls, helped by Sundeep Jora with 24 off 15, Niroshan Dickwella by 29 off 22 and Dillip Nath by 16 off 12 balls.
The Lions chased the score in the 18th over with 5 wickets remaining and took another step towards the qualifiers.
Lumbini Lions next and the last match for the group stage will be taking place on Friday (5th December) against the Janakpur Bolts.
